I have been extremely happy with the overall feedback that this ROM has acquired over the past few days. I decided it would be a good idea to release a small update before school gets to busy to work on my Droid. Build number GPA11 fixes and updates a number of small things. For one, using the latest FRG83G build fingerprint caused some Market apps to dissapear, I reverted to the FRG83D fingerprint which has resolved this issue. Car Home application has been updated to version 2.2.1.4 and required that the Car Home Launcher application also be added. Some users reported Voice Search functionality being broken in some applications, I added the Voice Search lib which should resolve this issue although I could never reproduce an error myself. Google overlooked adding the new Gingerbread themed icons to the landscape lockscreen so I went ahead and played around in Photoshop to fix those. Lastly, as many of us have learned, Gingerbread is slightly more CPU intensive than Froyo was and seems to require atleast an 800mhz processor to rid of lag and fix audio playback. Because of this I have decided to include my "AutoOverclock" file in the ROM which will automatically bring the stock kernel to 800mhz with no ill effect on your device. If many users request to still run at 600mhz, I can throw together a flashable .zip that will bring your device back down to that speed. I would create it tonight but I have the worst headache imaginable so I am just going to get to bed.
Also please keep in mind that Gingerbread is not officially supported for the Droid and is made possible via a "port" using parts from Froyo and coding. If you have previously flashed this ROM and were not satisfied with the results I encourage you to try each version as it is updated because it will include new bug fixes that may have resolved any issues you may or may not have encountered.
Note: If coming from the first build, GPA10, there is no need to wipe. If you happen to notice lag or audio playback issues, you need to flash a higher clocked kernel, such as the 1ghz by Slayher. For more details and recommendations about this ROM, please visit my initial post.

Thanks again Peter for all your hard work. I am looking forward to downloading and flashing this, as GPA10 has been great.

ReplyDelete1+ ... so far this is the ONLY GB rom that runs well on my Droid!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete!!! Flashing now
ReplyDeleteThank again for update
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!
ReplyDeletethanks for update! When will picture quality be updated next? Thanks for your hard work
ReplyDeleteCant wait, loved the stock GPA10, it is the only thing that made me move from BB 5.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Pete, hope the head is feeling better this morning.
ReplyDeleteJust when I was going to check the GPA10 comments section regarding lag and skips in Pandora, GPA11 is released and should fix some audio playback issues! What awesome timing!
ReplyDeleteOverall, it looks like there are several lag issues throughout the OS running on Droid - I'm just a n00b so I'm still working through this.
Thanks Pete!
This was my first custom ROM and the experience for a rookie has been scary, when things did not work just right. I am getting more comfortable with the process. Thanks for the great work.
ReplyDeleteruns great! very smooth. went back to the default home app because ADWLauncher was lagging quite a bit, even with slayhers installed and clocked to 1Ghz/performance.
ReplyDeleteonly issue is that i can't control the screen with androidscreencast anymore? i can see the screen, but the keyboard and mouse clicks don't have any affect. any ideas?
Two questions....Can I still use setCPU to underclock with profiles and such with the new GPA11 update?..and if I want to do the Slayher kernel (I just installed the GPA11 update)..do I have to wipe out any data?
ReplyDeleteIs the process for updating the boot animation the same for Gingerbread? I much prefer the Droid2 boot animation that was in Bugless.
ReplyDeleteif we already have gpa10 and the 1ghz slayher, do we need to reinstall the 1ghz slayher after upgrading to gpa11?
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your hard work. This is a great ROM! What themes work with this ROM so far?
ReplyDeleteAmazing job!! Thanks for all the hard work!!
ReplyDeleteOk, loving this one so far! Thank you! One comment I have, I am using the Sapphire 250-1000GHz SV kernel with this and it seems to be FLYING. CPU stays very cool (typically under 110F) and battery life so far seems very good.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your tremendous work and efforts!
@Kevin: Yes, you will need to re-install the Slayher 1Ghz kernel after updating to GPA11.
ReplyDeletedude, Your Awesome! Thanks for fixing the Market!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take forever for the lock screen to appear when I press the power button! Thanks for the fix.
ReplyDeleteI was running Bugless Beast, then GPA10 and now GPA11. love the update! thanks. So any way to put a "reboot" command in the shutdown list? loved that from Bugless Beast.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter, I was only having the audio issue, and this appears to have fixed it right up. Great work!
ReplyDeleteHave a question, I keep getting what looks like a blinking target up on the notifications bar. Does anyone know what that is?
ReplyDeletethanks
Thanks Pete, I have the same question as a previous user. I perfer to use SetCPU. Is there a way I can remove the "Auto Overclock" file from zip before flashing? I see the previous Auto Overclock separate install came in from /system/etc/install_recovery.sh. It looks all this file is doing is just setting the CPU overclock settings. If I remove this install_recovery.sh from GAP11 can I move forward with the install and using SetCPU? Thanks Man.
ReplyDeleteSetCPU can be used with or without that file in there.
ReplyDeleteWhere can I get help on installing the Slayher kernel? I just updated to GAP11 today??? thanks
ReplyDeletePeter, Kudos. I have a new phone now. I thought GPA10 was amazing but this update is awesome. I used RomManager to install the Slayher kernel. All I gotta say is WOW! Thanks for all your hard work.
ReplyDeleteJustin, Really easy to install the Kernel. Download ROM Manager if you haven't done it already. Download the Slayher kernel and put on your SD on your phone. Reboot the phone in recovery from ROM Manager. when phone comes up in recovery choose install zip file on SD. Locate the Slayher zip and install. The phone will reboot and you'll have the new kernel. I use SetCPU to boost the speed to 1000 or you can create profiles to optimize battery life. Hope this helps. I know I'm missing a few steps and I apologize. Im a NOOB and I had this done in 30min. Read, read, and read some more.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the hard work man! And put those donations to good use!
ReplyDeleteJustin, just flash the zip in Clockwork like every other zip.
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap. Y'all are right. Pete, this was good before. I just updated to 11, and then , because of what I read here, rocked the 250-1000 kernel. It smokes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete, thanks everyone!
@Justin: Just use the same process to install the Slayher kernel as you did to flash the GPA11 ROM. That simple!
ReplyDeleteDo u have to do a wipe to install slayher
ReplyDeleteThe flashing target should be the gps locator. It means it is searching to find the location you are at.
ReplyDeleteWow so simple I love you guys...especially you Pete!
ReplyDeleteHi, this rom works on any droid or only with the verizone one? I have an EU droid. Thx
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I'm running gpa11 with the slayer overclock and it's superfast. Live wallpapers slow it down though so I wouldn't recommend them.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for a buglessbeast based off this!
Pete, I would like to email you some questions regarding the baseband on this. My cellular provider uses cdma.
ReplyDeleteLoved GPA10 and just as I was about to ask about some performance issues, I see this! Awesome! I rooted my phone for the first time just to try this and am quite impressed!
ReplyDeleteOne Question: Is there a way to just update my current rom without having to install this as a completely new rom without having to back up and transfer all my data? I'd just like to save time if I can.
Hey Pete...I love my phone because of you. In other words...I love you. Jus so you know. Keep the updates coming!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Peter, I love the updates
ReplyDeleteScratch That. Rename it "update.zip", boot in recovery mode and apply update.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, outstanding, outstanding job. I'm definitely going to donate for doing something almost immediately that for 2.1 and 2.2 took armies at motorola/verizon months upon months to do.
ReplyDeleteBut since there's no forum and i didn't immediately find anything on google; anybody have some recommended profiles to use w/ setcpu and the slayher kernel? I'd like to keep my phone safe and get as much battery as possible out of the deal.
Martin - I am getting outstanding battery life with the GB slayhers that Pete recommended set to 1Ghz/600Mhz Performance.
ReplyDeleteAPPRECIATED! PayPal is in the mail...
ReplyDeletePete, thanks so much for you hard work, I installed the slayher kernel and Setcpu. It's like having a new phone! Your hard work is clearly appreciated by so so many and I found the donation button on this page works too!
ReplyDelete@Martin - go to droid forum and read the overclocking 101/setcpu tutorial. It is long, but gives you some settings that people are using for the best of both speed and battery life.
Wow. This is a great ROM. GPA10 was running a little laggy on wife's Droid. The "slide" to unlock was taking forever. This fixed everything and running nice and smooth. Was getting 844 on Quadrant with it. Updated to the 1ghz by Slayher and now phone is at 1051. Running very snappy. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with most here, this Mod is frekin awesome! This was my first root and custom Mod on my phone and it took me a couple hours of reading and about 15 mins of actual work, easy!
ReplyDeleteI have not over clocked the processor other than the Autooverclock that comes stock with GPA11 flash and most of the apps run very snappy. But I still can not get Radio Paradise to play any audio, I have tried the widget and in the browser, it almost seems like the audio format is not supported, but it worked just fine in stock 2.2.1. Any ideas, Peter.
Thanks anyway, I was looking at upgrading my phone but I see no reason now, you've got my OG Droid rocking again, thanks.
presb4......
Thanks for your great work! I just went back to stock for now which seems really smooth but I'd like to know do you think you could get it perfectly smooth with your version too with no glitches and possible data drop off? I dont know if that was phone or ROM i got from you I just know what you did was EXCELLENT just needed completely reliable phone/pda you know?
ReplyDeleteAlso Do you think there is any chance Verizon /Google will release a 2.3 and then you can edit from that and it would be even smoother? thanks so much-
At 900mhz or 1ghz it runs flawless already.
ReplyDeleteinstalled the 1ghz by Slayher in recovery mode after GAP11 all went well but I thought there would be some icon and settings ?????
ReplyDeletehow does it interact with Superuser
Thanks for including the AutoOverClock in this one.
ReplyDelete@mikron24: You have to use SetCPU or AutoOverClock to take advantage of the 1ghz capable kernel
ReplyDeleteDude... this thing rocks. I tried without slayher and found that it still had lag issues and music was breaking up a bit. After the slayher... Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI noticed it lost 3G connective at my work which has very good 3g signal but it was working a minute later.
Thanks pete
Ok I have tried to install this rom, I am new to this, I have rooted my phone, when I go to rom manager I go to install from sd card then I go to downloads then I see gpa11 I clik it then it says pre installation asks me if I want to clean wipe data and cache I check it then it reboots but nothing happens it stays on original rom am I missing a step. Thanks ahead for ur help
ReplyDeleteTry watching this video if you don't know how to flash a custom rom:
ReplyDeletehttp://theunlockr(dot)com/2010/10/12/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-your-android-phone-after-any-one-click-root-methods/
This is the first time I have donated to someone who built something (freaking awesome) for the droid..well deserved
ReplyDeleteIf you had gpa10 then no wipe is needed. But I usually do that stuff manually. Know where you put the zip at. Power the phone off. Hold the x button the press the power button(don't let go of the x) keep it held down till you boot recovery. (this is for clockwork) use the volume keys to navigate, power button to go back and camera button(pressed all the way) to select. First go down to wipe data/factory reset. Let that finish. Then wipe cash partition. 3rd go to partitions menu and format boot. After that's done go to install zip from sd card. Then choose zip from sd card. Find it. You should then click it and see a screen one yes and a bunch of no's. Go to the yes. Press the camera button. Then when that finishes do the same to find your kernel of choice(if your using a different one) then press the power button then reboot now by pressing the camera button. Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteThis is great. Slagged 1000 kept freezing on my phone. I'm running 1275 right now and its super quick. Quadrant bench mark was 1400+ and listed it as better than all the other phones out there. Awesome job Pete. Bring on the bugless!
ReplyDeleteDoes this rom not work for droid x
ReplyDeletePete, I've tried a lot of Roms and yours rock the house.
ReplyDeleteToph out.
Pete this is the best thing yet. My phone is blazing fast and I FREAKIN LOVE GINGERBREAD! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteWhere did someone get an over 1 ghz kernel?
ReplyDeleteWhat does that?
By the way is there anyway to overclock without rooting the phone?
And I had the problem with data connectivity now after going back to stock so it doesn't seem it was the software from you that had to do with that, unless it did something that wasn't reversed with going back to stock, as I understand I'm back at stock at least since I tried and then verizon wireless was giving me updates so it probably must have worked.
Anyway great work on what you did!!!!!!
Absolutely awesome! I experienced there missing apis on GPA10 but everything else has been smooth. I'm the slahyer 1.1 kernel with setCPU and haven't had any lockup. I'm anxious to give the new one a try as I head down the east cost. I bow to you Sir.
ReplyDeleteOne Question I have I thought the music player was going to be better but its the same old one?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the 1ghz slahyer kern v1.6 GB allows comp cache? Im running BB v6.2.1 with the slahyer 800mhz that Pete built the rom with, i wanna upgrade to a 1ghz for psx4droid and wanna keep comp cache.
ReplyDeletePosting this from GPA11. Great ROM. Love it!!! I wish though there was an odexed version. But, this is really great!
ReplyDeleteThis updated ROM is excellent.
ReplyDeletePrevious GPA10 I was experiencing random errors including phone issues, unlock issues and the dreaded crash of stock apps using voice recognition and youtube. To be fair, I did NOT wipe prior to install coming from the latest BB version.
With GPA11 all issues ultimately resolved themselves without a wipe and after a few hours. Not sure if resetting permissions via RomManager helped or not but it seemed to.
Overclocked with the recommended 1GHZ kernel and showed this off to some friends who are Droid 1 fanatics too.
The verdict is that this is the fastest, most stable, slickest, sexiest, most efficient Droid 1 ROM there is.
Gingerbread!!!!
Hey Pete:
ReplyDeletePlease advise as to your thoughts on what this will mean in terms of your bugless beast updates. Is this the end of BB?
Does this have the settings stuff in the notification pulldown like UD3.0 and CM7?
ReplyDeleteWith as wel as this is running on my OG Droid, I can't understand why Motorola/Verizon wouldn't release an official version.
ReplyDeleteWhatev, this ROM is incredible, my phone hasn't run this well in a while.
Nice work. I'd say keep it up, but Pete's Roms have rocked for so long that it's not necessary.
Is it possible to install this on my Original Droid by dropping it onto the SD card and booting the phone in recovery mode and selecting install update.zip? That's what I've done before...
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteI'm running your latest version of BB. Do you think this GB version is an improvement, or should I sit still??
Thanks!
Fantastic work, Pete. If I wasn't a poor college kid I would definitely hit that donate button. What a great ROM! And the slayher 1 ghz kernel works like a charm with GPA11.
ReplyDeletelol, my roomate played around with roms on his droid and never made a nandroid backup... does anyone have the stock OEM rom as a nandroid backup? i would be soo stoked if i can find someones so i can install via clockwork/nandroid recovery :p
ReplyDeletemail (at) clhmedia.com is my email if you are able to help
Absolutely great. Best OG Droid ROM ever. Hands down. Enjoy my money, you've earned it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hard work! Question with the new update should i make changes to "Setcpu" or do I even need the application?
ReplyDeleteTY...
I dont use CPU apps or task killers but it is up to you
ReplyDeleteSuch a great rom, i wish i could have given you more money but i'm kinda broke myself. Keep up the good work, you are awesome for making my droid awesome.
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteAwesome work as usual. As the Slayher kernels support interactive governor and compcache, a simple compcache fix would be awesome. Btw, I am running the 1100 kernel and this thing jams. Best score ever at 1431. Thanks again Peter.
I have been trying to run this rom and the previous gpa10 version and I must be doing something wrong. I keep getting error (status 7) and it aborts every time just before it is complete. I rooted my captivate, and ran the clockworkmod recovery. What am I missing here? I'm really looking forward to running this rom but I can't seem to have any luck! Please help out a noob! Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteAre there a lot of GB apps out there that will work on this?
ReplyDeleteManually downloading Google's voice search on GPA10 re-enabled voice input for me. Thanks for the ROM; it finally convinced me to root.
ReplyDeletePete, I just wanted to personally thank you for all of your hard work on this. It really paid off. I really appreciate you making these releases available. They breathe new life into my phone.
ReplyDeleteThe Rom is great as well as the 1Ghz kernel. The only thing I miss from BB 6 is the 3D app launcher and the battery percent in the top right. Two very minor things.
ReplyDeleteI had some troubles with GPA10 not displaying the notification bar, but GPA11 seems to be a hit! Thanks Pete!
ReplyDeleteKlyde,
ReplyDeleteThis ROM is for Motorola Droid ONLY. You need to read my friend before try to flash a Droid ROM on a Samsung Captivate... Sorry but you are out of luck,
I spoke too soon about the call presentation screen taking a while to load. That was before installing the 1 ghz kernel. After installing it (using rom manager for those who asked) and receiving a few test calls, no problem at all!
ReplyDeleteI already flash this on my Droid 1 and love it. Does anyone know if this rom applies to Droid 2? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeletepete this is awesome! i loved gpa10 and gpa11 just made it better! thanks for you hard work!
ReplyDeleteAfter 1ghz kernel... all of my problems disappeared. Thank you Pete.
ReplyDeleteThis is freaking awesome. Thanks for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteSimply Brilliant... Have a Guinness tonight!
ReplyDeleteJust put this on my Droid last night, it was my first time ever rooting. It works fantastic! Thank you! I look forward to your future work.
ReplyDeleteHey I love this ROM! It's amazing my droid is rocking at super speeds and I am loving it. Only issue is I can't get wireless tether to work, anyone else?
ReplyDeleteRuns beautifully when overclocked to 1ghz, this version fixed some lag issues too. Recommend to a friend, so glad I still use the original droid
ReplyDeleteWireless tether works try another channel in the settings
ReplyDeleteLove this! Was just wondering what I could do with Root and got interested in ROMs and I read a article about your work and couldn't resist! I'm very happy with this, thanks! My girlfriend is VERY jealous (LG Ally) ^_^
ReplyDeleteI'm a little confused, Pete. I absolutely LOVE this ROM, but one thing I can't seem to figure out. It's a small thing, but how do I reset the battery stats? You know, Time on battery = blah blah blah. It never resets, even if I put it on charge, reset the phone ect. Great work, but if you could help me on this one minute detail. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete! This ROM *is* the shit!
ReplyDelete
