Not for my droid but awesome Pete = an ALL AMERICAN ANDROID GOD!!
ReplyDeletePete I'm glad ur branching out to other devices but u made ur name on the Droid. I speak for a lot of people....plz finish bb 0.5. I check morning and night for the update...lol...plz dnt forget about us!!!
ReplyDeleteThx for ur hard work!!!
where is busybox in here, i installed it and rooted but cant find the busybox...
ReplyDeletei can't get the wireless tether app to work. always crashes.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of you selling the x and moving to the vzw galaxy s? I'm leaning towards the samsung right know and that might really sway my decision.
ReplyDeleteI'd love an update too on BB 0.5,
ReplyDeletetaking it slow is fine, but an update would calm the anxious/restless public waiting for your very ROM.
I was looking at the galaxy s as well. I've been rocking the gvalazy s theme for bb v 4 and it looks awesome. The phone looks great as well but my upgrade isn't till jan so who knows what new stuff they will have out by then.
ReplyDeletePete thet way u are going you will have to hire or partners with some other developer
ReplyDeleteDroid1, Droid X, Samsung S, soon I guess u ar going for the Droid 2 etc etc
men that is a lot of hard work so I thank you for all but indeed I like many Droid (read Original Droid) are waiting for the so awaited BB0.5
Fantastic. My phone is so much faster now. Loving the captivate with the new features.
ReplyDeleteFirst I did the one step rooting with your first Captivate post and sideloaded the wireless tether app - worked fine. When I ran UnleashV0.2, the wireless tether app just hangs. Everything else works great. Thanks
Total Newb question, does this tool change the stock Captivat Rom?
ReplyDeleteTether program crashes on my captivate whenever try to tether. I would like to uninstall the app and reinstall other versions of it, but it will not allow me to uninstall. Can you help me to uninstall this version? tommy@djhaf.net thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am having the same issue with tethering with the Unleash v0.2, it hangs and fails stating check the dump file and it gives the way of setting up the dump file.
ReplyDeletelisten... my captivate didn't work with the version of wireless tether that came installed... but this one did. just thought you should know...

Pete, when I use Rom Manager to back up this Rom it the option Check for ROM Updates it says "Your ROM is not set up to receive OTA Updates. Please contact the ROM developer". Is there any way to change this? I love this Rom, my phone is now super fast and I would love the update if and when you make them available. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSorry one more newb question, will I still be able to receive the Froyo update when it becomes available? I'm guessing I'll have to flash back to the stock ROM, but I am a newd and could be wrong. Thanks again! GReat work!
ReplyDeleteAny plans for making roms for the LG Ally? I'd like to ask you a few questions on how to move forward, I am interested in making a few myself for the Ally.
ReplyDelete-Xav
Any luck on the restore tool???
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your hard work.
ReplyDeleteOnly problem is that I cant get the tehering app to work. It always makes me force close it.
wireless tether won't work
ReplyDeletebut, dude. YOU. ARE. AWESOME.
I am loving this so far, but my question is as follows:
ReplyDeleteAfter I re-installed the package on my Captivate, the phone icon disappeared from my launcher bar. Is there any way to put it back on there?
AMAZING !!!
ReplyDeletethanks a mill :)
i love you man
On the Samsung Captivate. Uninstall the wireless tether app that came with Unleash The Beast. Now use Barcode Scanner app to scan the barcode on this page; copy paste in browser...
ReplyDeletehttp://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre6.apk&can=2&q=
It will then work!!!
btw, how can i uninstall wireless tethering ? I'm trying to use a wireless tethering but can do it at all! the only thing worked is PdaNet.
ReplyDeleteSome tips:
-the notepade (when I am calling) crashes when i select it.
-Cant open software from download history! "Parase Error - There is a problem parasing the package." !!!
Can you tell me the function of the
ReplyDeletesymlink("/system/xbin/ifconfig,symlink /system/xbin/busybox SYSTEM:bin/ifconfig")
line from the updater-script?
I'm guessing it creates the xbin/ifconfig symlink and then does something? to the ifconfig in SYSTEM?
How can I restore the phone (unroot it?) because I'm going to return it to the store.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Question before I attempt this: Will I still be able to get the Froyo update through OTA when it is release for the CAPTIVATE?
ReplyDeleteBest answer: Probably, but first back up your current rom using ROM Manager.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have a Captivate and after installing Unleash the Beast I was not able to apply the recent Samsung OTA firmware release. I had to flash back to my backup rom before it would apply :/ Since then I have elected to not use Unleash the Beast and have enabled side loading using a different method.
I would like to state though that this is gret progress for us Captivate users and I'm looking forward to a Bugless Beast ROM for the Captivate as well as future releases from this dev.
Nice work!
I noticed in other forums (XDA) that most rooting to activate wifi teathering on the Captivate requires a kernel flash. Do I still need to do this? If so after or before your steps for rooting? sorry...a noob to rooting.
ReplyDeletehey Pete I'm trying to get to samsung media hub and the download angry birds which should be showing in the marketplace but it's not. I have unleash the beast installed v0.2 on my captivate. Any help?
ReplyDeletewhere can i find a backup rom to run back to stock??
ReplyDeleteI've just rooted my galaxy using the supplied file and now no longer have an option to access my sdcards via phone, any suggestions on how I can correct this?
ReplyDeleteAny chance that you'll update UTB for JH7?
ReplyDeletehi peter/everyone i downloaded (on laptop) zip file to root captivate, changed name to update.zip emailed it to myself, (gmail) and when i tried to open it and download on captivate i get messgae that it's not compatable with phone. how to i download on phone and install? thanks!
