Download: Bugless Beast (V. GPA19) Android 2.3.7

Apparently the changes I made to my build in attempt to get the HTC Incredible camcorder working caused issues with the Motorola Droid camcorder. Because of this, I have decided to release a quick update to fix it. I took advantage of this time to squeeze in a few other changes, including "Trackball wake" for the Nexus One and Droid Incredbile. Check the changelog for additional information. For those of you still running an older build, please take the time to upgrade to GPA19, many changes (that may not be mentioned in the changelog) are made between each release that will benefit your device. Once again, if you know anyone who owns any of the devices I support, please tell them about my ROM.

Note:
  • This ROM can be found in ROM Manager (please comment on and rate the ROM!)
  • This ROM can be found in ROM Toolbox
  • This ROM includes the latest core Google apps
  • Google Wallet may require a factory reset / data wipe to work (Nexus S 4G only)
  • Syncing icons WILL go away after setting up Google Wallet (Nexus S 4G only)
  • If no sound can be heard during a call, reboot once after initial install (OG Droid only)
  • If phone continues to vibrate after call is answered, turn off vibrate (OG Droid only)
  • Best way to show that you enjoy my work is to donate :)

Download:
  • Crespo (Samsung Nexus S)
  • Crespo4G (Samsung Nexus S 4G)
  • Inc (HTC Droid Incredible) *Currently Beta, camcorder is broken*
  • Passion (HTC Nexus One)
  • Sholes (Motorola Droid)

  1. Thanks for the update, Pete! Please confirm if we are upgrading from GPA18 that we DON'T need to wipe data & cache. Thanks!

  3. @AMGala: If it helps, I've upgraded my OG Droid from GPA16 to GPA17 to GPA18 and now to GPA19 as they were released with no problems and I only wiped the Dalvik cache each time. I'm using an OG Droid.

  4. So Pete, which one of these would work for my HTC Thunderbolt? If any.

  5. Does this ROM support the Darktremor Apps2SD? I'm on an old Nexus One and space is always a premium...

  7. Just installed GPA19 over GPA18. Just had to wipe dalvik. No issues so far. Just out of curiosity, what sort of wireless improvements did you do?

  15. Will you be making a Bugless Beast rom for the newly released Android 4.0 Pete?

  16. After the many number of ROM versions my Moto Droid has seen, including the many number of Pete's in the mix, I just have to speak up about BB-GPA 19.

Wow Pete, very nice work on this one for the OG (Sholes)! I can say with great certainty folks; with a proper full wipe and install, clocked to 1000mhz w/ the included kernel...this is the Be(a)st ;-)

Flash it and enjoy the best OG performance yet...

Anyone agree that someone should pick this guy up to start & maintain a vanilla series of devices for us Google experience lovers? At least many of us can look forward to the Galaxy Nexus now that it's coming to VW, but still I wish for the day a sticker on the box CONFIRMED Peter Alphonso was backing it for 24 months...haha

Thanks so much for all your hard work Pete. I look very forward to what comes next, and I hope it pays off BIG. It has for all of us OG's and seems only right.

BTW, the proceeds from the sale of my near mint Moto Droid will be donated to you upon receipt. I feel inclined to owe you at least that much for keeping it SO alive. After all, consistant updates are easily worth the $5/mo or so that works out to...anyone agree?!

P.S. No, I'm no crazy fanboy or other, in fact I rarely even comment on the web. GPA 19 on an OG is just THAT good...

  18. Just donated a little toward your fund from my wifes paypal.... I know all about college funding. Daughter is there now. By the way I have used several of the nightlies and stable versions and enjoyed every one of them. Tried CM7 and had to come back to a more stable solution. Thanks again

  20. How did each phone get its nickname? Example: OG Droid = Sholes?

  21. been using these roms for 6 months, with no issues. got a strange question. I upgraded from 17 to 19 with no problem. Then I decided to try it as a stock install. formatted SD card, put rom on it. went to settings/privacy and did the reset. After I installed the rom I still have my custom wallpaper. I think other things were not erased as the wifi settings still remember all the networks I use. tried going into clockwork recovery and doing reset and erase there and got same results. Is there a step I'm missing to completely reset phone?

  22. @Anonymous

Are the wifi settings the only reason you suspect the wipe isn't working? I ask because the wifi settings are actually saved to your google account, and will sync to any device you sign into google with (mine are shared between my OG droid and transformer, it's quite awesome)

  23. wallpaper can be restored by google's cloud

  24. thanks for the responses regarding what is stored on the cloud. I am getting ready to turnover the phone to my son and wanted to make sure it is all clean

  25. Pete, I just upgraded from the old BB (Android 2.2) to this and I like it but I am missing some of the old tweaks, the biggest being apps2sd. Does this support darktremor apps2sd? Other things I miss after about a day of use - battery percent and ad blocking. I can live with those but with an OG Droid I need space...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Pete great job on all the work you put into the community! Quick question. I went back to stock 2.2 on my OG from GPA17. I now have a Galaxy player 5 which cannot take ad-hoc wireless tether from the root app. Does the new Bugless Beast have built in wireless tether that has infrastructure mode?

  27. I just went from Liquid GB to GPA19. Although very stable, it is slower on my OG Droid. Then again, I'd rather have the stability built into your ROMs than the fancier features on a ROM that doesn't always behave properly. In future versions, I hope you can add a few bells & whistles (rotary unlock, side-key wake, etc). But, stability and good battery life are king... and so are Peter Alfonso & GPA!

  28. I've been running this since it's release and I have to say, best rom I've ever had on a phone. Your rom is the only reason my phone is still usable. I made a donation, just wanted to say thank you in the comments.

  29. Thanks for the great ROM. It my index by which I compare everything else. Please keep all of us posted when you are switching phones so I know what to buy.

  31. Got my Nexus last week, using this ROM now and its SO snappy! feels like using a GSII, but much cooler obviously. Thanks Bugless Pete! Looking forward to what you can tweak out of ICS in the future.

  32. Any chance we will be seeing Android 4.0 on the OG Droid?

  33. Pete, this is a great rom! Runs great on the droid incredible! Can you tell me where this file downloaded. I downloaded it through rom manager and for the life of me can't find it. I've looked with rom manager and root explorer and can't find it. Please help! Thanks ahead of time.

  36. Awesome! I'm a newbie to the whole rooting process. I rooted my OG Moto Droid and cannot believe what I am seeing. Peter, thanks I really apprecite the work you put into creating this GPA19. I was considering changing out my phone and moving on. Not now, my Droid has been to the fountain of youth and been rejuvenated.

  38. My dad just got the Galaxy Nexus. Mine comes tomorrow. We both had Original Motorola Droids before that. Given that I didn't want to risk anything to my own phone and that my dad no longer cared about his Droid, I decided to root his Droid and install GPA19 (Android 2.3.7) on it to see what Motorola and Verizon weren't giving me. To my surprise, Android 2.3.7 ran just as well (if not a hair better) than any version of 2.2.x ever had. Granted, I don't believe the Droid should've even gone that far as it's way too slow and glitchy even being that far, but it's no worse at 2.3.7. It's about as smooth and Vanilla-y as it gets. Great work, Peter! Keep it up!

  39. This is one of the best rom I have ever used in terms if battery performance and overall usage. I have an HTC Droid Incredible which has battery issues. With this rom battery is probably tripled amount of time for normal usage with data transfer. I am comparing this to Cyanogenmod and MIUI. CM never kept me no matter how many times I try. Battery on that was worse than MIUI. I love MIUI as a whole but compared to your rom battery is worse. I wish MIUI can be less battery hogging. Although am using this temporary I really like. I'd recommend this rom for its simplicity and to replace any stock rom. I like MIUI for its customizability and settings. I guess that's the trade-off. I just feel the folders can look better and show the title. Anyhow, I fancy this and will continue to support by using it. Excellent work, just brilliant. I hope you continue this! Thank you for this wonderful rom and hard work!
