Download: Bugless Beast (V. GPA18) Android 2.3.7

The Beast is back! "Bugless Beast" is a ROM series I created a long time ago for the original Motorola Droid. It aimed at providing a plethora of options while maintaining stability and performance. When Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) was released by Google, I decided to take a different approach to making ROMs. This new approach would maintain stock appearance yet have additional hidden features and tweaks built in. I decided to call it the "GPA" series (Gingerbread Peter Alfonso). I know, pretty original right!? With every release I have missed the original name that we all once knew and loved more and more. With my latest version, GPA18, I have decided to bring the Beast back. It may not have as many custom options, but a look at the changelog (which is still not complete) will assure you that it is worthy of the name Bugless Beast once again. This release will update your device to Android 2.3.7 and also add a few notable features so be sure to update as soon as possible.  Check the jump for download links and additional notes about the build.

Note:
  • This ROM can be found in ROM Manager (please comment on and rate the ROM!)
  • This ROM includes the latest core Google apps
  • Google Wallet is included in the Nexus S 4G build (may require a factory reset to work)
  • If no sound can be heard during a call, reboot once after initial install (OG Droid only)
  • Syncing icons WILL go away after setting up Google Wallet (Nexus S 4G only)
  • Best way to show that you enjoy my work is to Donate :)

Download:
  • Crespo (Samsung Nexus S)
  • Crespo4G (Samsung Nexus S 4G)
  • Inc (HTC Incredible) *Currently Beta, things may be broken*
  • Passion (HTC Nexus One)

  5. Downloading and flashing without even reading everything lol. I've been waiting for this update for a while and I'm excited for it! You know what, my bank account is about to thank you :) by the way, since the ICS source is available, when will you build that? I was going to take a shot but I'm having problems syncing repos. I have the SDK though. Thanks once again!

  13. As always Pete - awesome! Any inclination to try an ICS (Android 4.0) build when that becomes available?

  14. I missed the BB, thanks a lot for bringing it back. Greatest ROMs I use come from you. Keep up the terrific work.

  19. If I am running the sholes 10-13-11 nightly rom, can i just do a dalvik cache wipe when installing this rom?

  20. Is this plain vanilla? Or OG BB style?

  21. Recently did an sbf on my droid because of all the roms I flashed over time and possible corrupted files. Did a fresh install of this and wow, never flashing anything else! Always went back to your gpa builds pete! Runs flawlessly with your lv 1.0ghz kernel. Are you by any chance still working on the kernel that was updated by seven subversions? By no means am i asking for an ETA I just love the work you do!

  22. scratch that I mean updated by 34 subversions!

  23. Usually I have had better luck with setCPU when I want to overclock - but I was curious to see if autooverclock would work better for me than it has in the past since this is a 2.3.7 build... should we still be using the file you posted waay back (cant find the link atm) or have you updated that too?

  24. Do you have to wipe data if you're using GPA17?

  25. Happy Birthday Pete all the way from Barstow, CA

  26. Stupid question... Are there any differences between the GPA's and this new BB version? (aside from the obvious re-branding and newer version)

  27. Thanks Pete!!! Love your work!

  28. has anyone tried out the droid incredible version, i'd put it on my wife's phone if it's good/not too buggy.

  29. how do you install?i'm a noob

  30. This is the most rock solid ROM to grace my D1 yet. Buys me some time trying to decide what to get next. I think I'll wait to see what Pete moves towards ;) $30 just donated.

  31. I believe that the auto-overclock is now integrated into the ROM (correct me if I'm wrong), and you shouldn't have to wipe data/cache if upgrading from a previous GPA build.

  32. Works much better than GPA17. I used to have a problem with GPA17 where my phone would keep ringing after I answered. With GPA18, this dialer app problem seems to be gone. Hopefully, that bug is permanently squashed!

For those who asked, you do not have to wipe data if you have GPA17 already installed. Only wipe dalvik cache unless you have problems.

    Peter is the man! Enjoy!

  37. With bugless back I may just have to make my xperia play just a game device and use my OG Droid! Love the BB rom series Pete!

  38. Great F'in ROM. Speed & Battery are great. Also what settings did you adjust cause my Nexus S 4G screen colors look way better than CM7? Is there a way to get the power controls in notification bar?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Checked the changelog and it's listing GPA19 on there. I'm running GPA18 where can I download 19? Keep up the excellent work Pete! Thank you for keeping me happy with my Droid!

  43. Thanks for the great work Peter!

Is there any chance that you could provide tun.ko compiled for this kernel? I'd really like to get OpenVPN working with it!

    Thanks
