Download: Gingerbread Keyboard With Extra Features (Updated 1-19-10)

6) Added some tweaks for increased speed
7) Greek keyboard support
8) Fully compatible with Froyo, maybe Eclair
9) Open Source! Help make it better @github

Hey Peter, thanks for the update on the keyboard. I will install this and let you know if I run into any issues.

I think I will change the suggestions back to orange though cause it matches the GB theme much better that way, or at the least change the line on the keyboard to green to match the suggestions, or at least to something that matches.

Besides my cosmetic complaints, I absolutely love the updated dictionary and speed enhancements. Thanks again man :-)

I take back what I said about the green not matching. It looks sweet :) I guess I have just been used to seeing the orange for so long lol. Very nice.

  5. Hey Pete, I love bugless beast and I'm looking forward to trying this keyboard.
One question before I do, though:
How do I get the other dictionaries installed?
Do I have to recompile or just download them somewhere?
    If so, where?
    Thanks

  6. Why the need for root? The gingerbread keyboard that was floating around didn't need it. The extra features you mention sound cool, but don't seem like they need root.

  7. amen to Badwolf, I like to use HE and RU keyboards sometimes so I downloaded anysoftkeyboard, but if BB had it that'd be awesome.

  8. A great feature would be to never hide the suggestions list. Some keyboards already have this and its very useful.

  9. I installed this to go with a green CM7 theme, but I think the spacebar should be green as well, to match the rest of it. Otherwise, I find it perfect.

  10. i installed this via SPRecovery (it said it installed LatinIME), correctly i think. the keyboard predictive text changed to green -- in keyboard settings i've chosen the Gingerbread keyboard. but i have the familiar [ret] where you have the [smiley face] - and my spacebar is not the long-orange one. so... did I install it correctly? did i miss something?

  11. Any way to keep the emoticon window open after long pressing and allowing us to selcect one that way? Right now it's click and drag and that doesn't seem to work well for me. Also, calibration would be nice!

  12. Gonna give this a go right now. Thanks for your work on this! ... and of course a question: how hard is it to make long-press characters throughout the kb (a la swype / swiftkey) so that "@", "&" and "-", etc would show up? The GB is honestly my preferred keyboard and it's something I've been thinking about trying to do myself... bet you'd be a lot faster at it tho.

  13. Great keyboard but I can't seem to find the Smiley button. I see it in your picture but on my D1 I only have the return key. Also it doesn't auto space after punction and sometimes doesn't autocap after you manually add punctuation. Those would be nice features. So far I am liking everything else though.
Thanks for the port! Good work.

  14. Hey Pete, This is a odd request. I use the Seidio Extended battery and for some stupid reason the gauge doesn't read properly. I have noticed in the About Phone, Battery Information there is a value called Scale the current value is 100 would it be possible to implemented a way to change that value to say 183 for the differences in capacity.

Stock Battery typical capacity is 1420 mah
    Seidio Battery is 2600 mah

  15. The only thing I would want changed about this keyboard is that when you press to add smileys, you don't have to press and hold, you just press once then press which one you want. Other than that, I love it!

  16. Great work, I love the tweaks Pete. We could use a bandwidth throttling hack though :)

  17. I have the same issue as Ben... I cant find the Smiley button.

I'm running Froyo (Perception 10.1 ROM)

Any way of activating the smiley button?

  19. Pete, Ive used about every build for android and every rom through out the year since the Droid came out. I would have to say the BBv6 is by far the best thing I have ever used. I installed it two days ago, and then installed the gingerbread keyboard after and I used the Gb Icons you posted, Love BBv6 its amazing great work.

  20. What about the word editing function of REAL Gingerbread?

I hate when I mess up one letter, and I don't notice until I'm done typing an entire sentence, and I have to go back to delete that letter. It's a pain in the wazoo. But in Gingerbread, it was extremely easy... almost like an iPod/iPhone.

Is there any way of integrating that into this?

    That would be awesome!
