Three months ago I released a kernel for the Nexus S (all variants) here on my blog. The feedback I received was beyond what I expected. I read various places on the web that stability, battery life, and performance was phenomenal. Rather than update this kernel every week as others may do, I am going to abide by the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". The only changes I could see fit to make were to add a 1.1GHz slot and pawitp's fix to allow the battery to charge to 100%.
For those of you new to my work, this kernel can work on ALL Nexus S ROMs. Simply flash in recovery, without wiping. Also can be found in ROM Manager.

Can this be used for the Nexus S 4G
ReplyDeleteYes, all variants of the Nexus S (AT&T, Sprint, T Mobile, etc)
ReplyDeleteWhat about the battery % fix . Can it also be used on the ns4g .
ReplyDeleteThe fix is built into the kernel. This kernel is for ALL Nexus S devices, whether its 4G or not.
ReplyDeleteCan this be used on any nexus s? Kidding! Awesome work as usual.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete.. My Nexus S died.. But I have my OG yet... I'll keep following you :)
ReplyDeletedo your roms include a kernel or do i need to install a kernel manualy every time i install a new rom?
ReplyDelete@Chris, Not everytime. His roms does include a his kernel but this is an update to that kernel, so you have to manually install this one.
ReplyDelete@Peter, does your kernel offer any kind of memorykiller/manager like SuperChargerV6 or the like?
Thanks btw! keep it up.
Very good Job !
ReplyDeleteIf I'm on GPA19, do I need to install this?
ReplyDeleteDoes it contain deep idle?
ReplyDeleteAfter flashing this on my Nexus S 4G, my battery life has been incredible. I actually forgot to plug my phone in last night and i fell asleep with it on about 50%. Usually it would have been dead if I forgot to plug it in before bed, but I woke up with my phone on 43%. Incredible. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteHi, I've got the new ICS by kwiboo. Just wondering if this kernal would work? Or is it safe to try on the rom without it bricking my phone?... Thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete, My ns4g is now "all it was meant to be". Your kernel tripled my battery life, even when OC'd to 1.4 Ghz. With this kernel the SPRKE1 radio update and your ROM I get a fully functional communications device, no more dropped calls, no more "can you hear me now" problems and a very "snappy" phone that outperforms all of my expectations I had when I originally purchased my device. Before I found you I was ready to throw it away. I think ill keep it now!
ReplyDeletehey bro. i am new, and I don't know how install this update on my motorola droid....Could you help me please
