Download: Tethering Fix For Nexus S 4G

Sprint shouldn't have blocked tethering, enough said. This patch will restore the 3G tethering ability you had in Android 2.3.4 on your Nexus S 4G. Download and flash in clockworkmod recovery manually or automatically via ROM Manager.

Update: I have submitted this patch to CyanogenMod so tethering will work in these builds too.

  8. Can you explain how this works a little bit?
I was stock and let 2.3.5 install. That disabled tethering, as you know. I tried flashing CM7 and I still had no wifi tether. I flashed your fix on CM7 and it didn't help so I went back to stock and your fix works like a charm!
    What does it do exactly?

  11. Thank you thank you thank you! I had rooted my phone with the one click root found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096384 but I couldn't get the wifi tethering to work. For those needing some further instructions, to get this wifi fix to work, I installed "ROM Manager" (link above) from the android market, downloaded the fix above, copied it to my device via USB and used ROM Manager to "install ROM from SD". Worked like a charm!

  15. I am completely new to Android world. Could you please give me more detailed instructions on how to install this package? Should I copy the whole zip file to the directory on the phone itself and then I opened ROM Manager, then choose install ROM from SD Card. Then I went to the directory where I copied CRESPO4GTETHERFIX.zip file, choose this file. It poped up the message Reboot and Install. I clieck OK. It rebooted the phone and then seemd like it started to unpack the package and then I got ginger bread guy with a warning sign and it's where it stopped. What am I doing wrong?

  21. I see Sprint is pushing out the 2.3.7 right now. I have already rooted and applied your patch. Has anyone updated to 2.3.7? Should I Unroot before updating to 2.3.7 and then is there a need to reapply the patch. Any one have some input?

  22. Worked just fine for me. I was running stock 2.3.5, unlocked, rooted, with crespo4gtetherfix installed. My only issue was with clockwork recovery - couldn't flash it from the rom manager tool, had to go through adb from my PC. I re-applied superuser.zip and crespo4gtetherfix.zip from clockwork after that and all was good.

My Nexus S 4G now provides a wireless connection for my HP Touchpad:D
