- Kernel version in "About phone" screen (e.g. 2.6.32.9_1Ghz_LV_V0.1)
- All cpu scaling governors including "interactive"
- Most debugging turned off including "time in state"
- Built from latest source
- Most requested modules: compcache, ext 2, 3, & 4, tun, ipv6, etc.
- Low voltages (based on collected data) for less battery consumption *
* Low voltage kernels are not suitable for all devices. Your device may not boot or may go into a "bootloop" if it can not handle the selected kernel. Simply flash another one if that happens.

1.25GHz_LV_V0.1.zip
Note:
- The ext modules are quite large, if you do not need support for ext you may remove them from the .zip with no ill effect
- Wifi may not work if your ROM does not have enough room to fit all of the modules
- These kernels have not been tested on Froyo ROMs
- Compcache works "out of the box" no need for an additional .zip simply execute "compcache start" in a terminal
Thanks, will test out and see how it works.
ReplyDeleteDoes this work with autoclock or do I need setcpu?
ReplyDeleteNot tested on Froyo ROMs. So I'm assuming these are meant to be used with Gingerbread ROMs like your GPA12?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the ROMs lately! I'm loving the GPA series.
Installed and using the 1.25Ghz_LV_VO.1.zip on my Droid 1 running your Gingerbread GPA12. Awesome work! You have turned this stale droid around and gave it new a second chance at life.
ReplyDeleteIs there any consensus on which CPU scaling app to use? I've been using CPUBoost but it seems like a lot of people use SetCPU. Any difference?
ReplyDeleteIf i want to improve battery life there is a need to downclock one of roms above with setcpu, am i right?
ReplyDeleteIs this compatible with CM7 or Just GPA?
ReplyDeleteGreat work and Thanks for keeping the OG alive.
OMG, Pete, This is the fastet my phone has EVER run. Very responsive. Gonna try it in The car and see how it works with the music player ...
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Kevin, my Droid flies with the GPA12 1.20Ghz_LV_VO.1 kernel! Great work Peter!
ReplyDelete1.20Ghz working smooth-as-silk on my Droid 1 with GPA12. Nice work. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteinstalled the 1.00Ghz on Droid1 with GPA12 and it is working really well. GPA12 was killing my battery really fast with the Slayer kernel but I can already tell a difference in this after running for only 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteIf you lost 3g, redownload and flash again. I forgot to set a file permission but its fixed now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
ReplyDelete@Jean I am running this 1.1ghz kernel on CM7, with compcache enabled, and it is running the best it has so far! :)
ReplyDeletePete, running the 1.25 and it's fast as hell with good temps and it would seem good battery. However, compcache does not seem to working and I have it set to interactive.
ReplyDeleteAre any or all of these now your first recommendation for GPA12?
ReplyDeleteKernel is awesome... love that you added compcache. Thanks a lot for the hard work you put in.
ReplyDeleteOh and alot of comments are popping up about scaling apps... personally using setcpu. Working amazingly.
Will these work on a Droid X? I'd like to speed mine up..
ReplyDeletePeter Just downloaded and flashed 1.00Ghz_LV_V0.1.zip in SetCPU what is the best setting to have it at? I have mine set for preformance and 1000 max and 650 min
ReplyDeleteso far so good...
ReplyDeleteWhat do you guys think is the best one to balance performance and battery life?
ReplyDeleteI'm making the assumption that 1.0Ghz is the best for my battery, and the 1.25Ghz is the best for performance.
Good job on the kernels. I ran Quadrant with the 1.25ghz on GPA12 and got back a score of 1230!
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteTook your suggestion and loaded the 1GHz kernel. Deleted the "ext" modules as you indicated since I had no clue what these do. :-)
That was easy. Lag is gone as you said. I'll keep an eye on battery temp, assuming I can get the Setcpu app if needed to manage...one question if I may - can I overwrite to a higher speed kernal later w/o wiping the cache?
Thanks again for breathing new life into my OD!
Running a custom GB Rom while I wait on you to do a new BB, FC's on almost every app, tried various kernels, various speeds. Your 1Ghz fixed it right up, AWESOME JOB. Can't wait for you to get some free time to get us a new BB, 2.3.3 is AOSP...hint, hint.
ReplyDeleteI've never really overclocked before. Only after installing the Gingerbread ROM and having to upgrade to 1ghz to take care of the music stuttering problem did I first install a custom kernel. I've read a bit about how different Droids can handle different speeds, is 1.25ghz really that safe? I don't know much about processors, just seems overclocking it to over double it's rated speed seems like a lot. That said I've installed the 1.25ghz kernel and it's running great, no problems so far. Just don't want my phone to blow up, thanks for any feedback
ReplyDeleteYou should make your latest releases available for ROM Manager! Including your kernels. I see your BB stuff is in there...
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteYour recent work has breathed new life into this phone that I thought was long gone. Thank you for your hard work!
I flashed the 1.20Ghz kernel today and found my phone to be unstable. Are there any other settings that I need to tweak? I am running your latest GPA12 and I have SetCPU. I flashed back to the 1.00Ghz and everything is fine now but looking to see if I can overclock more~ Any advice from you or anybody would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again and I look forward to future releases!
Working great so far, pete.
ReplyDeleteDo you have to use an app like SetCPU? If so, are there any free ones?
ReplyDeleteext4 is actually backwards compatible with ext2/3, in that it will mount the older filesystems without changing the on-disk format and provides a few ext4 benefits that don't require conversion (mounting ext2 will behave somewhat like ext4 without a journal, likewise ext3 will behave somewhat like ext4 with a journal). The ext2 and ext3 modules (for space concerns) should be safe to remove even for users of these older filesystems.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete... I am now a loyal follower of yours. Can't wait for a BBGPA! Whoot!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job, I was previously running UD 3.0.1 but it was way too buggy for me. I wiped down to your GPA12 with your 1.1 kernel, and I love it. Been running a stress test in SetCPU with no issues for the last 10 mins...looks very promising.
ReplyDeleteLove your work, great job,
Thank you!!!
This kernel fixed the screen redraw delay. Very good work, stable as a horse.
ReplyDeleteI am running the 1.1 kernel. Fast and stable. Keep up the great work, we all greatly appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteanyone try on Froyo?
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on both gingerbread and the 1.25 kernel.
ReplyDeleteI use gpa 10 and im still in shock over what u have done. You are the best and keep up the good work!
Been running 1.00Ghz and GPA12 for 24 hours now, works great, power consumption appears much better compared to previous Slayher kernel. Will probably try the 1.25Ghz next... THANKS!
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify for those who have not taken the time to read Peters posts on his kernels.
ReplyDelete1. These are meant for Gingerbread, I don't think you want to use these on Froyo.
2. Kernels and Gingerbread are for Motorola Droid 1 only.
=D
Running the 1.25ghz kernel, set at 1ghz, on GPA12, runs really fast. Battery seems to be lasting more then slayher kernel. Going to have to make another donation because I love your work so much. Thanks again!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job Pete.Im running GB with the 1.25 kernal. My Droid has never run this good.I dont see the need to get a newer phone!
ReplyDeleteMuch thanks sir.
ReplyDeleteAmazing job once again! Just when I was getting ready to bail on my OD, you make it brand new again!
ReplyDeleteOk got the 1.10 to install. getting 1400's in quadrant score..
ReplyDeleteOkay you have a real newby... I am running gpa12 how do I flash this kernel?
ReplyDeleteGreetings!
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you, Peter Alfonso, you are Awesome.
A week ago, I was an Eclair sad user. I found your website, I downloaded your Roms, Froyo first.
And OMFG, this is fucking awesome.
Today I saw your Gingerbread Post, and now I'm using GB 2.3.2
Thanks to you, because you made my phone work AWESOME.
Im testing 1.1 GHZ Kernel, THIS IS AWESOME!!!
ANDROID Forever.
Thank you bro!
Agustin Jaimes, from Mexico.
Running GPA12 w/ the 1.0 kernel. Works wonderfully!!!!! Thge battery life has more than doubled compared to the slayer kernel. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteRunning GPA12 w/ the 1.0 kernel. Works great...
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter!!
I've got 36 hours on 1.0 kernel and its been trucking along perfectly. My better judgement says just leave it alone, but I can't help myself. Peter, you have me addicted, so I'm going the try the 1.25. I'm running GPA12 on my old Droid 1 and its never run better! The only problem I've run into is with a fun little app called Tricorder? it forces closed? The only reason I like it is I can play like I'm the real "Scotty".
ReplyDeleteI'm new to this whole rooting thing but i have two OG's (wife's and mine) that I have been rooting since GPA10. I've learned a lot but I'm still a newbie, wife's is running GPA12-1.2 with no problems, but I can't get 1.2 kernel flashed to my droid. Keep getting caught in boot loop. Didn't do anything differently than I did with wifey's. Any suggestions.
ReplyDelete@J.L. That can simply mean a few things, 1) Your phone can not handle the high clock speed 2) Your phone can not handle the low voltages. Try a different kernel that I have provided. Eventually I will make more to accommodate more devices.
ReplyDeleteBlazing fast. Running the 1.25. It's ridiculous. Thank you.
ReplyDeletehey pete i love all the goodness youve brought to my phone. its really made being content, even with all these crazy new phones coming out, a lot easier. 1000 times thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cool goods Pete! Great work! Donation sent your way. Love GPA12 with this overclock! - Todd
ReplyDeleteGreat kernal my droid is much faster and the battery is lasting much longer I have 80 % battery after 24 hrs ..
ReplyDeletePeter, thanks for all the ROMs, kernels and help. My droids are running great and we don't have the upgrade urges anymore. Like someone else said let my donation go towards beer and pizza or a night out, you can always pay for school later. ;-)
ReplyDeleteUsing SetCPU what settings are you guys running? On demand? Profiles? Thanks for all input and help in advance...
Hi just a question about these kernels
ReplyDelete1.10GHz_LV_V0.1.zip
are you suppose to use this with SetCPU and Compcache
to get max effect?
Running GPA12 with the 1.25 kernel. It is much more responsive now and the battery use appears to be similar if not slightly better than the Slayer 1.0Ghz kernel so far. More bang for the volt. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI'm running Elite Droid 5.0.2 and it's been working well except I was having issues with my Camera freezing after taking a single picture. I believed it was an issue with the RZ kernel that comes stock with the rom.
ReplyDeleteInstalled Pete's 1.0ghz kernel, and now the camera app is working flawlessly. (I also removed the .ext modules to save space).
Unfortunately, although Pete says compcache is enabled it doesn't appear to be working for me in Elite Droid.
I loaded GPA12 and the 1.10GHz kernel within the same recovery session and it all works great. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteHey guys whats the deal with the Compcache... I see it in the zip...does that mean it automatically starts up or do I have to manually do anything...Thanks Pete this kernel is running smoother then the 1.0 slayher..I have the 1.25ghz kernel set to 225-10000 (for battery reasons)...except for when the screens off or when its charging I set it to 1.25ghz max and min..seems to be running good...you think that's a good idea guys?
ReplyDeletejust flashed the 1ghz kernel on gpa12 and its awesome, and i gotta say its the fastest and most responsive rom/kernel ive used yet. keep up the great work. donation coming soon!
ReplyDeleteDo I check your sight everyday for new updates? Absolutely. Its getting pretty rediculous
ReplyDeleteUsing Cyanogenmod Nighty Build #8. Moto Droid.
ReplyDeleteWorks great, running 1.1ghz
I'm fairly new to the ROM/ custom Kernel scene, and just recently came across your work. I've installed GPA12 and the 1Ghz Kernel on my Droid 1 and LOVE IT! Donation sent, maybe spend some on some beers instead of textbooks!
ReplyDeleteGPA12 and 1.2ghz runs amazing! I've used a bunch of kernels and this one runs the best by a lot! thanks for everything you do!
ReplyDeletedamn i just update my kernel to the 1.00ghz and run as hell pretty smooth and fix the problem with the music, also the lock screen is more responsive thnxs dude
ReplyDeleteAfter an innocent Google search: "Gingerbread Droid", just to see if an update was coming, led to this site... I have spent the last week reading and learning.
ReplyDeleteEnd result: GPA12 running with 2.6.32.9_1.1GHz_LV_V0.1
Me happy. An optimized-yet-vanilla Google Experience is what I was after. I realize I need to live with this a week or so before I'm home free, but all seems well.
Pete the 600mhz Kernel flies!!! Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteRunning the .6 kernel and its to fast on PE 5.0.2 lol. Thanks Pete!
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter for the Gingerbread build and the kernels! Two rookie questions:
ReplyDelete1) Is there any difference between running the 600MHz kernel and running, say, the 1 GHz kernel and setting a 600 MHz max in SetCPU?
2) Just to confirm: to delete the ext modules as suggested, do I just delete ext2.ko and ext3.ko from system/lib/modules and then rezip the file?
GPA12 + 1.00 GHz kernel, running great on 2 droids. can't wait to see GPA13 or a gingerbread version of bugless beast.
ReplyDeleteIts crazy I get lower bench marks but everything runs so much smoother
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, since I have been using your ROMs and kernels my phone has never ran better! I can't remember the last time I have had a "force close" Keep up the great work! I check your site daily impatiently waiting for a BB Gingerbread build.
ReplyDeleteWow good stuff. Just went from stock Froyo to GPA12 with 1.00 GHz kernel...it feels like I have a brand new Droid!
ReplyDeleteGreat work! My droid is running great again thanks to this kernel and GPA12!
ReplyDeleteDownloaded the 1.1 ghz kernel and have been running it on my Moto Droid for about a week now. I'm really liking it! Great job
ReplyDeleteQuick question, do these kernels come with loop-back support? I would like to install Ubuntu onto my phone and in doing so the process requires a loop-back capable kernel/rom. I have a custom rom (Ultimate droid 3) so I'm fairly sure it should work but just thought I would ask
Just a stupid newbie question. Will these Kernels work with the latest version of BB? I really need some speed in my phone but don't want to backup/wipe to a stock Gingerbread ROM if I don't have to.
ReplyDeleteDo these kernels have netfilter?
ReplyDeleteI flashed the .6 LV, 1, and 1.25 kernels on my Droid running GPA13 (and made full nandroid backups of the phone after each so I can seamlessly switch between them with SPRecovery). I've only encountered issues with the 1.25GHz kernel--it worked for a few hours and then my phone began rebooting every 5 seconds. Switched back to .6 and it has been running smoothly (albeit a bit slower) since. Great battery life too! Thanks for the great work.
ReplyDeleteNeither 1.20GHz nor 1.25 GHz works with GPA13, is it not meant to work with it? For the record, the 1.00 GHz and 1.10 GHz kernels work very well. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteWhy would I need to EXT Modules? And if I don't need them, how do I go about removing them? Thanks, and keep up the great work!
ReplyDeletegreat job peter, my droid is running the smoothest its even ran.. thank you for your hard work
ReplyDeleterunning 2.3.3 and thanks! do i need to wipe data/cache when flashing new kernels?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this, Pete. Excellent work. GPA13 with the 1.1 kernel, and as stable as stock- but a ton faster!
ReplyDeleteRunning 2.3.3 and the 1.00GHZ_LV kernel. Everything is much faster and much nicer in general! Thanks for all the hard work.
ReplyDelete1ghz kernel low voltage is good full 1ghz speed have little better battery life than 600mhz stock kernel but temp is quite hot 40c at full load, can you make ULV kernel for froyo and gingerbread?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good work. I love your roms and the 1.0 kernal is awesome. Donated 5 bucks, best money ever spent.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick fix to an issue I was having: I was getting boot loops when I upgraded to the 1.0 GHZ LV in GPA14 from the SV 0.6 GHZ, even though I had successfully used other ultra low voltage 1.0 GHZ kernels for months before GPA14. Turns out SetCPU was doing something wonky (I have no idea what; it detected the frequency and governor correctly). Uninstalling SetCPU before installing other V0.1 kernels by Pete fixed my problem. Hope this helps someone.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm somewhat new to rooting and all the other good stuff, do I need to have an app like SetCPU to use these kernels? Or will they work just fine with your stock GPA14 and no apps of the sort?
ReplyDeleteI suggest you download setcpu, to control frequencies. kernels may heat up your cell.
ReplyDeleteI am running a revo_decrap-1.1 ROM on my rooted LG Revolution with ClockWorkRecovery mod. When I try flashing the 1.00GGz_SV_V0.3.zip I get an assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "sholes"...(Status 7)
ReplyDeleteI thought the kernels were compatible with all FroYo and Gingerbread ROMS but the LG Revolution is a bit of an oddball when it comes to the normal root/flash world.
I am not necessarily looking for a resolution so much as hoping this might help with your development.
Thanks for all of your contributions to the community Peter!
you have made a good blog.
